The second Winter Lecture took place on 20th January 2025 at Sciences Po and was delivered by Chiann Bao on the topic “Mind the Information Gap – The Role of Predictive AI in Arbitrator Challenges”.

The Winter Lecture introduced the “information gap” surrounding the independence and impartiality of arbitrators, a gap that is traditionally filled in party by the arbitrator disclosure requirements. Reflecting on the standards developed to determine the independence and impartiality of an arbitrator coupled with the institutional challenge procedures, the Winter Lecture explored why predictive Artificial Intelligence might be a particularly suitable tool for evaluating the chances of success on challenges with the potential of reducing challenges generally.
